10/07/2025
Pristina, 10th of July, 2025 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj visited the village of Leshak in Leposavic on Thursday and met with the residents who submitted their complaints regarding the notification by the municipal authorities for the release of public property on which 12 houses are built.
The houses are located on the property of the Ministry of Internal Affairs where a police station has recently been built. The residents were advised to use all legal means while the Ombudsperson said that he will follow up on this issue, adding that the authorities should also look at the general interest of the affected families.
After this meeting, the Ombudsperson met with representatives of civil society organizations and citizens of Leposavic with whom he discussed the purpose of the visit and heard their complaints.
Participants highlighted some of the problems they face, such as difficulties in obtaining personal documents, the issue of displaced persons, and the issue of electricity, where some citizens are not paying, as they said, due to unjustifiably high bills.
The Ombudsperson told them that he has received some of these complaints from citizens and is working on these cases. He also emphasized that the Ombudsperson’s Institution will hold open days in the northern municipalities to be closer to citizens to hear about their problems and challenges.
However, he asked residents to continue to submit their complaints to the Ombudsperson’s Institution and told them that he will take action to review all complaints.
At the end of the visit, the Ombudsperson also met with the Mayor of Leposavic, Mr. Lulzim Hetemi, with whom he discussed the meetings with citizens and the complaints submitted by them.
