
The Ombudsperson met the students and discussed human rights
Pristina, January 25, 2024 – Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj and his deputies met the students of the program “The European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratization (EMA)” based in Vienna, Austria and Venice, Italy.
The Ombudsperson spoke first about his mandate and powers, about the activities and work in the institution, the procedures for accepting complaints and the promotion of human rights in the Republic of Kosovo.
He also spoke about the cooperation with local and international institutions, as well as about the challenges and problems he faces.
The students raised various issues for discussion such as the level of women’s ownership, transitional justice, the environment, issues involving the multi-ethnic society in Kosovo, as well as cooperation with civil society organizations.
This cooperation marked its 20th anniversary this year, where more than 2,500 students from all over the world visited Kosovo, and meetings with the Ombudsperson were recorded respectively.
