CSOs published joint human rights report
Prishtina, 11 May 2022 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj participated in the third publication of the joint civil society organisation’s report on human rights in the country for 2021, organized by the Human Rights Network.
The report was conducted jointly with 37 NGOs working in a wide range of human rights fields that provided essential data on their work.
The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj commended the civil society organizations for this report, emphasizing that the work of all leads to the improvement of the situation regarding human rights.
He underlined some of the findings in the report, such as the increase in the number of murders of victims of domestic violence, which remain issues that need to take concrete steps to change the situation.
“On the issue of delays of juidicial proceedings, every year, the same situation is repeated every time, but I think that the authorities should be take much more seriously into consideration as how to approach to resolve this issue,” – said Mr. Qelaj.
This report has dealt with numerous cases related to civil and political law, then economic, social and cultural law, the treatment of the rights of certain groups and individuals, and transitional justice, corruption and environment in relation to the human rights. The report has issued 117 recommendations for central and local institutions.
