The Ombudsperson condemns recent incidents against minority communities
Pristina, 25 November 2021 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj has received with great concern the news about the recent events in Prizren and Gjakova where members of communities have been discriminated against on racial grounds.
Mr. Qelaj stressed that all forms of violence and discrimination motivated by the ethnic, racial, national or religious affiliation of victims, their political beliefs, due to their gender, sexual orientation or gender identity, have no place in our society and should not be tolerated.
The Ombudsperson urges the security and justice institutions to treat these cases with priority, ensuring the citizens in their fundamental right to life, health and physical integrity and urges that all measures be taken to prevent such cases in the future.
