Ombudsperson took part in the meeting of the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen

Pristina, 5 October 2021 – The Ombudsperson of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Naim Qelaj, is participating in the 11th meeting of the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen (AOM) on “From the sea that separates us, to the sea that unites us”, which is being held in Nafplio, Greece, for two days, 4th and 5th October.
On the first day of this meeting, the focus of discussions was on people on the move and migration, the climate change and natural disasters as well as the important role of Ombudsman institutions in addressing these topics. On the second day, the proceedings of the General Assembly are being held, discussing the plan of activities of this association for the next year, the financial report, the new membership applications as well as the voting for the new members of the governing and executive board.
The Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen (AOM) was established in 2008 in Marseille, France, with the aim of promoting democracy, the rule of law and social peace in the Mediterranean region. It works to promote respect for human rights and international cooperation with other organizations dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights. The Institution of the Ombudsperson of the Republic of Kosovo is a full member of this Association since 2016.
The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou was also present at the reception organized in honor of this meeting.
