The Ombudsperson visited resource centers for children with special needs
Pristina, June 1st, 2021 – On the occasion of the International Children’s Day, the Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj visited the two resource centers in Prizren which serve children with special needs.
In the resource center “Mother Teresa” for children with hearing impairments, the Ombudsperson was received by the director Mr. Yrmet Shabani, who said that the center has 81 children who come from all areas of Kosovo.
In the resource center “Lef Nosi” for children with intellectual disabilities and development, the Ombudsperson was received by the acting director, Mrs. Myzafere Gjonbalaj, mathematics teacher. She explained that teaching is divided into three levels involving 74 students coming from 10 municipalities in Kosovo.
Mr. Qelaj congratulated children for their day and saw their work that they did in school and underlined the great work being done by the staff of the centers for these children and added the importance of full involvement in the educational process and the obligation that the state has to provide access to education, schooling and training, especially for disabled children.
The Ombudsperson thanked the leaders and staff of the two centers, for the dedication and the extraordinary work they do in these two centers.
