Prishtina, 5 February 2020 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj met on Friday with Ambassador Tomáš Szunyog, the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative, and his associates.

They discussed about the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo and the progress of the electoral process. Also, Mr. Qelaj informed Ambassador Szunyog that the Ombudspersons’s Institution (OI) will closely monitor these elections.

Mr. Qelaj praised the role of the EU in building the capacity of the Ombudsperson Institution and in particular the support through an EU-funded project for the OI, which seeks to strengthen its role and influence greater compliance on human rights, as well as the impact on increasing the implementation of OI recommendations by local institutions.

Ambassador Szunyog praised the role and importance of the Ombudsman Institution and stressed that the EU office will continue to support the OI.
